Discipline (Bot9 #200)

The fifth member of the Starting 9 is the unsung hero of the middle infield - the second baseman. The second baseman is generally the grittiest grinder on a baseball team. Because of this stereotype, Discipline is the Starting 9's second baseman.

Let's change things up for this week. No Bible verses. No anecdotes. No discussion of an idea. I'm going to present three fairly common situations and ask you to respond by sending your recommendations to bot9@completegameministries.org. What would you do?

Situation #1 - A player on your team was caught with vape pen cartridges in his car by his parents. The parents ask you to speak into the discipline because baseball mean a lot to him. How would you handle this situation? If it was alcohol or marijuana, would it be different?

Situation #2 - Your team features some of the top players in the region. Because they're so talented, they tend to get away with coasting in some game, practice, and warm-up situations? How would you handle this situation? If the players were less talented, would it be different?

Situation #3 - Your team has played pretty well during the season, but continues to lose close games. They are in every game, but, when the score is tight on the scoreboard, they get tight in the field. How would you handle this situation?

Looking forward to your responses!
